About the Herramientas e Instrumentos de Orisha

Herramientas e instrumentos de Orisha — the ceremonial instruments and spiritual tools used at the altar, in ritual and in the daily practice of Santería.

This is where the pieces that are not jewellery live: garabatos de Eleguá (the twisted ceremonial staff), maracas, and the other instruments and implements a devotee or a house keeps on hand. Each one is handmade and spiritually aligned, and each is intended for ritual use under the guidance of a godparent or elder rather than on its own.

Nothing here is consecrated. The tools are made clean and correct, and the consecration that gives them their office is performed by a Santero or Santera.
